Mary + Nick’s Dreamy Spring Green Lakes Engagement Session
Spring in Central New York can be unpredictable, but sometimes those unexpected rainy days make for the most magical photos. Mary and Nick’s engagement session at Green Lakes State Park was proof of that. Armed with clear umbrellas, we embraced the drizzle and mist, turning it into a romantic backdrop for their story.
The soft pinks and blues of their outfits popped beautifully against the iconic blue-green waters of the lake, creating a dreamy atmosphere that felt straight out of a painting. The rain gave everything a soft glow, and their laughter and love made it impossible not to smile behind the camera.
We wandered along the trails, chatting about their upcoming wedding plans and stopping for photos as the scenery unfolded. Halfway through, Mary and Nick changed into a second outfit before we explored the other side of the lake. The new boardwalk was a must-stop spot, offering gorgeous views and clean lines that framed them perfectly.
One of my favorite moments came at the Old Administration Building, where the rain only added to the timeless charm of the stone architecture. We captured a mix of wide shots with the lake in the background and some beautiful close-ups of Mary’s stunning engagement ring.
Sessions like this remind me that love truly shines no matter the weather. I cannot wait to photograph Mary and Nick’s wedding this September at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. If their engagement session was this magical, their wedding day is going to be unforgettable.
