Erin + Keith’s Rainy Wedding at The Stables at Windy Point

Bride and Groom pose for wedding photos inside their reception space during their rainy wedding

Erin and Keith’s wedding at The Stables at Windy Point was filled with heartfelt moments, laughter, and a touch of rain. Between their sweet first look and a surprise rainbow, the magical moments sprinkled throughout gave way to an unforgettable day.

Keith and his guys got ready at the venue, while Erin and her bridal party got ready just down the road at The Pert House in Potsdam, NY. When every necklace had been clasped and every hair was in place, we made our way to The Stables to get ready for the first look.

It was a little rainy, but thankfully the venue has a large covered patio out front, which was the perfect shelter for this special moment. Erin and Keith didn’t let a little rain put a damper on their excitement to see each other for the first time. I loved their big reactions! Not only do first looks make for some stunning photographs, but it instantly calms everyones nerves, which makes the lead-up to the ceremony way less stressful.

After the first look, we took photos with their wedding party, then we all headed to the church for a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony. I loved the moment Erin walked down the aisle with her dad and the entire room was looking her way with smiles on their faces. After their vows were read and sealed with a kiss, we stuck around the church for family photos and a few more of just Erin and Keith.

We arrived back at The Stables at Windy Point and admired their gorgeous reception details. The vaulted wood ceiling was complemented by wood-accented centerpieces with roses and lush greenery. Their wedding cake was one for the ages, featuring buttercream mountains and a custom cake topper. Every detail at Erin and Keith’s reception reflected their love of the outdoors.

The reception kicked off with a beautiful first dance, followed by parent dances. Their best people toasted to their love (and included plenty of hilarious stories); the whole room was laughing by the end. Erin’s grandfather gave a blessing, then dinner was served.

With the rain coming and going all day long, we expected much of the same for the evening hours. But to our surprise, the sun made an appearance, and along with that, a full rainbow. I grabbed Erin and Keith and we ran outside to take some photos with it while it lasted, then headed back in to finish dinner. After they were done, we went back out to take advantage of the gorgeous sunset light. I loved how the photos with the lake behind them turned out.

Back in the venue, they cut their cake, then they kicked off dancing. We rounded up all of the St. Bonaventure University alum to get a group picture, which turned into such a fun photo opp! The dance floor was packed all night long and their guests really took advantage of the photo booth and props. I took the opportunity to grab a late night flat lay image with all the reception details I found hanging around.

Before we left for the night, I gathered up Erin’s relatives since this was the fourth wedding that I had photographed in their family! It was such a bittersweet moment to have everyone there together, but I know we’ll all stay in touch. Thank you, Erin and Keith, for trusting me to document all of your memories!
