Emily + Brandon’s Autumn Engagement Session at Green Lakes
There’s something magical about Green Lakes State Park in the fall. When I suggested it to Emily and Brandon for their engagement session, they were immediately on board—and for good reason. With its vibrant foliage, serene trails, and variety of natural backdrops, it was the perfect place to celebrate their love story.
We met on a crisp October day, just as the trees were showing off their peak autumn colors. The golden yellows, fiery oranges, and deep reds created the dreamiest setting as we wandered through the trails, stopping under arching branches and near quiet pockets of the lake. Emily and Brandon were so easygoing and full of joy—my favorite kind of energy to photograph.
They brought along their pup, Rizzo, who absolutely stole the show with his charm. (Pro tip: If you’re including your dog in your session, bring a friend along to help! It makes it easier to get a mix of photos with and without your furry friend.)
Midway through the session, they changed into a second outfit, and the soft blue tones were a beautiful nod to their wedding colors. The cool hues contrasted so nicely against the warm autumn leaves and added a polished, personal touch to the images.
Some of my favorite photos from the day were the ones filled with genuine laughter and sweet glances—those unposed moments that truly reflect a couple’s connection. Before we wrapped up, we even found the perfect leaf to use for a playful ring shot. It was the perfect ending to a perfect fall session.
I’m already counting down the days until their May wedding at the pier in Brewerton. If their engagement session was any indication, it’s going to be an unforgettable day.
