Erin + Ben’s Lakeside Wedding at Bayshore Grove on Lake Ontario
Rainy wedding days are hardly ever in the plans, but when you get married at a fabulous venue like Bayshore Grove, it’s no big deal. Add to that the gorgeous sunsets that often wrap up cloudy days, and we were in for quite a treat for Erin and Ben’s lakeside wedding!
My team and I arrived at the venue that morning and got right to photographing the wedding details. The hairdresser was finishing up with Erin’s hair, and the Bridesmaids were busily hovering around and checking the forecast, which predicted rain. Meanwhile, Ben and his Groomsmen were dressed and ready to go, so we grabbed some photos of them while we had the chance.
The rain finally made an appearance right as guests were arriving, so they all ducked into the reception space to mingle while they waited it out. Erin and Ben had planned an outdoor wedding ceremony with Lake Ontario as their backdrop, but the rain had other plans. Luckily, Bayshore Grove has a backup option, so the ceremony was moved to a covered pavilion. The rain was light, so we were able to keep the sides of the pavilion rolled up, letting in the fresh air and light, and providing a lovely green background. Thankfully, the rain ended just in time for Erin to walk down the aisle. They enjoyed a short sweet ceremony that was chock full of love and emotion.
The ceremony was followed up by family photos, then pictures with the entire wedding party. We took some under the pergola, which was the original ceremony location. Everything was wet, but the post-rain sky made all the colors feel so bright and vivid.
We wrapped up pictures with plenty of time for Erin and Ben to enjoy the cocktail hour with their family and friends, then they were introduced into the ballroom for the reception. They shared a first dance, followed by parent dances and dinner. Their wedding cake was a gorgeous 4-tier creation decked out with a selection of white, blush, and light blue flowers and just the right amount of greenery. They cut it, shared a slice, then kicked off dancing with an anniversary dance. Erin’s parents were celebrating their 28 year anniversary on that very day, so the DJ made sure to call out the special occassion.
As the dance floor filled up, the sunset outside was growing increasingly beautiful. I pulled Erin and Ben out of the reception and down to the lake to snap a few final photos. Bayshore is known for its stunning sunsets, and we got quite a show that evening! Guests started flowing down the hill to get their own sunset photos and pictures with the newlyweds.
What an amazing way to end the day! I wish you both so much happiness!
