Shannon + Phil’s Green Lakes State Park Fall Engagement Photos

The wedding photography world is like a big love letter from one happy couple to another. Recommending vendors you enjoyed working with to your friends is the biggest compliment for someone in the wedding industry. That’s why I was so honored when Shannon and Phil reached out for their Green Lakes State Park engagement session. Shannon was a bridesmaid when I photographed Antonia and Collin’s wedding a couple of years back, and I remember her glowing smile and go-with-the-flow personality.

We headed to Green Lakes State Park one fall evening. We chose a weekday, and I’m so glad we did! The park was practically empty and the trees were nearing peak colors, which made for a gorgeous backdrop for their fall engagement photos. Shannon and Phil brought along their dog, Fenway, so they could knock out Save the Date photos and Christmas Card pictures at the same time. Their friend Drew tagged along to hold Fenway’s leash when we wanted to grab photos with just the two of them. This is something a lot of couples don’t think about, but I highly recommend it for any dog engagement photos. It sure beats trying to tie them to a tree!

Shannon and Phil chose the perfect outfits for the season and location. The goldenrod yellow looked amazing on Shannon and tied in nicely with the fall colors. If you’re wondering how to dress for engagement photos, this is a good example. Their outfits are coordinated (his plaid picks up the green and yellow from her top and vest) without being matchy. Their clothes also have a good amount of texture and movement, which comes across nicely on camera.

We had the best time trekking all over Green Lakes State Park to find new locations. We ended up on the beach (and happily ignored the “no dogs allowed” sign for a couple minutes) where we snapped a few final photos of Shannon and Phil goofing off with their pup.

The happy couple recently got married in Maine, and I’m sure the day was absolutely beautiful! Shannon and Phil, I wish you a lifetime of adventure and joy!
