Kara + Zachary’s Timeless Engagement Photos at Franklin Square Park

You only need three things to create timeless engagement photos: a beautiful location with multiple spots to shoot, classic attire that doesn’t instantly date the images, and a couple who is ready and willing to put their trust in their photographer and have a good time. This is how Kara and Zachary ended up with these gorgeous and timeless photos from their Franklin Square Park engagement session.

When Kara reached out to me, she told me all about their love story. They met while attending Le Moyne College. Kara had lost her student ID while swiping into their dorm. Zachary found it and tracked her down to return it. They started dating shortly after, and seven years later, they’re engaged! They still joke to this day that they had their own modern Cinderella story, except with an ID card instead of a glass slipper.

For their engagement session, we lucked out with the one dry day, sandwiched between days of rain in late September. We met up in the morning in downtown Syracuse for an easy stroll in and around Franklin Square Park. Kara showed up in a beautiful creamy ruffled dress, and Zachary complimented the look with a button-up shirt and loafers. It was truly a timeless look for them both!

I was thrilled to see there were still flowers in bloom in Franklin Square Park, even so late in the summer. I made sure to grab plenty of photos in front of the flowers for that added pop of color. We strolled through the street for some pictures, then took some near the iconic fountain. These two were so sweet together and made it feel like a breeze.

Next, we headed over to the creek for some shots of them walking along it and standing on the bridge. As the sun rose in the sky, the morning light became absolutely dreamy. It gave the perfect glow to their photos!

I gave them a few more prompts before they suggested we take some pictures in front of the big magnolia tree that they see everyone take photos with. Even though it didn’t have it’s spring flowers, I think it’s equally gorgeous in the fall!

Kara and Zachary are getting married at Timber Banks this summer and I can’t wait! It’s going to be such an amazing day.
