Holly and Nick's Intimate At-Home Wedding, Cicero United Methodist Church

For some people, Covid-19 allowed them to have the intimate wedding of their dreams. Holly and Nick’s August 2020 wedding was absolutely perfect for them! They decided to get married a little over a month earlier than their original wedding date with just their closest family members surrounding them. The entire day was a labor of love from parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents too. The day started out at Cicero United Methodist Church, where Holly and Nick shared a first look before walking down the aisle to say “I do!”

After some photos of the two of them with their bride and groom masks outside, family members had started to arrive to help put the finishing touches on everything. Holly was given a sentimental handkerchief and ring as her something old from her mom before the ceremony begun.

Family members were a part of every aspect of their wedding day, from fixing Holly’s dress to lighting the candles before the church service and giving readings. Nick stood alongside his brother as Holly was walked down the aisle with her dad where she stood next to her brother. Nick snuck in a quick kiss as they met at the altar before the service had started, which made their family members erupt in laughter. Holly’s uncle was even their pastor who married them, so it was truly a family event!

After they sealed their vows with a kiss and walked back down the aisle, their family congratulated them as they showed off their rings, and signed their marriage license. We took family photos with everyone afterward and some photos of the bride and groom together with the gorgeous backlighting.

They had a reception at Holly’s parent’s house complete with appetizers and cookies by her aunt, Francesca’s Cucina catering delivery, and a beautiful dessert table. It was such a laid-back celebration, where everyone was just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. We even took pictures with their cat! I joined them while they all ate dinner together, and it just felt like a welcoming family reunion.

After dinner we took more pictures outside. It was such a gorgeous, sunny evening! I loved the ferns on the front porch, creating a whimsical setting. We took a few more family photos before Holly and Nick’s cake cutting then a few more pictures to end the night! I always strive to give you as my client a variety of images to choose from. We ended the evening as the sun was setting with portraits on the street. These two loved their day so much, that they opted to only have their intimate microwedding over the large wedding.
