Finger Lakes Wedding Styled Shoot at Seneca Ridge

I’m a firm believer that you're never done learning. And the more that we as photographers, business owners, and wedding professionals can educate ourselves and challenge the way we see the world, the better we can serve our clients. That’s why I sprung at the opportunity to sign up for this wedding photography workshop happening at Seneca Ridge!

Kerri Lynne Cole has been a huge mentor and supporter of my business over the years, so I was thrilled to be a part of her spring wedding photography workshop and styled shoot. The Seneca Ridge is a new full-service wedding venue in the Finger Lakes area. I drove down to Geneva early in the morning and honestly had no idea what to expect from the location. But the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I was in love! The entire venue is the perfect mixture of historic and luxurious. The overall feel of the grounds paired beautifully with the Monet-inspired styled shoot that Kerri had planned.

The day began with all of the students mingling and getting to know one another, then we dove into photographing the details and getting ready images. We orchestrated a “first look” for our couple, Jess and Michael, then explored the gorgeous property for some posed photographs of the Bride and Groom and their wedding party.

There was a simple ceremony set up with stunning views of Seneca Lake in the background. While we photographed that, Megan, the planner of MLH Events was putting the finishing touches on an elegant tablescape, featuring colors, florals, and details that mixed and mingled in an effortlessly beautiful way.

While Jess had a quick outfit change, we took some photos of Jen and Dom in some other stunning dresses from Jess’ new Finger Lakes bridal shop. It’s wonderful, at workshops like these, when you have the chance to photograph multiple different “models” because everyone moves and poses differently. It allows us, as photographers, to really test our skills and creativity.

By the time Jess was ready, the sun was setting, so we grabbed some shots of her and Michael at the sweetheart table, in the field, and together under the string lights. I took some photos of the desserts before sharing cake with the rest of the attendees. I loved getting this opportunity to expand my knowledge and connect with other local like-minded photographers. I’m always striving to learn and improve my craft so I can better serve clients like you. I can’t wait to continue using what I learned from this wonderful experience that Kerri and Megan created!
