Meghan + Alex’s Sunset Engagement Photos on Lake Ontario

Meghan and Alex found me based on a recommendation from their friend Courtney, whose family photos I took back in 2020. The connection was instant, and I was so excited when they booked me for their 2023 wedding at Curtis Manor in Oswego, NY. But before we could get to that, we needed to document their engagement. This carefree couple opted for sunset engagement photos at the Lake Ontario bluffs. This is a super popular hangout spot for people who grew up in Oswego (like me!), and it was so much fun coming back!

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening on the shores of Lake Ontario. The Oswego bluffs were highlighted beautifully by the setting sun, and that plus the wispy clouds created a super dreamy backdrop for a little lakefront photography.

The session started out at the bottom of the bluffs near the water. Meghan and Alex were full of laughter, which made my job super easy. If you’re ever nervous about having your photo taken, remember that it’s always better to let that nervous energy manifest into silliness and giggles rather than letting it make you stiff and robotic.

We hopped in our cars and headed just down the street to Fair Haven State Park for some more pictures. The state park has a sandy shore, which made for some amazing sunset beach photos. Meghan and Alex brought along a bottle of champagne and a couple of personalized glasses so they could enjoy a toast on the waterfront.

One of Meghan’s only requests for the session was that they get in the water, and she wasted little time doing so! They waded out and splashed around a bit. I love a couple who is not afraid to get into the water! I wrapped things up with a few detail shots of Meghan’s ring, and then we parted ways.

These two are so much fun - their wedding day is going to be such a blast! I can’t wait to see them again on their big day!
