Lauren + Derek’s Intimate Elopement in Baldwinsville NY

When Lauren and Derek thought about the photos from their intimate elopement in July, they imagined they would feature candid moments and natural-feeling portraits. They saw my portfolio of past weddings and knew I would do their sweet home wedding justice. It was an easy and enthusiastic “yes!” on my behalf. Above all else, I consider myself a New York elopement photographer. Casual elopements are my jam and the intimate moments that make up these days are what fuel my heart!

The wedding took place at Derek’s dad’s house, just down the road from me in Baldwinsville, NY. Lauren and Derek had planned to go to a nearby park for their first look and portraits, but Mother Nature had other ideas and it was downright pouring by the time I arrived. We quickly came up with a plan B and decided to do photos inside the house, with a simple first look at the bottom of the stairs.

We took some indoor photos wherever I found good light. Lauren & Derek told me previously that they weren’t good at posing for photos, but I know all the best prompts and poses to make my couples look and feel their best, and the resulting images absolutely proved them wrong! Their fun-loving, casual energy radiates through every photo.

The culmination of Lauren and Derek’s intimate elopement was a quick but meaningful ceremony inside the home with just their closest family and friends. It was a room filled with so much love for the happy couple.

The rain stopped just in time for us to grab some photos outside. The gray misty atmosphere made for some beautiful images that they’ll look back on for a lifetime. I absolutely loved every minute of their portrait session. In the end, I’m so glad we ended up doing all our photos there on the property. It made everything feel that much more special for this home wedding.
