Heather + Kyle’s Rustic Country Wedding at The View Event Center

It was a long road from 2018 to now. That’s when Heather and Kyle originally reached out to me about photographing their June 2020 rustic country wedding. But then a pandemic happened… along with a change in plans, a change in venues, and an intimate exchange of vows on her family’s farm. One year after they first said “I do,” they did it again in front of all their family and friends, and wrapped it up with Heather’s one wish: a huge dance party reception.

The day kicked off with Heather and her bridesmaids getting ready at her parents’ house. Heather’s mom had painstakingly refinished a beautiful vintage vanity so her daughter could get ready at it. I used it as a backdrop for her jewelry and other details before she slipped into her wedding dress. Once all ready, Heather and her Dad shared a touching first look with her grandparents’ farm in the background, before heading to the church.

Kyle and his groomsmen got dressed at his house, then drove to the ceremony in an array of unique cars (including an army truck!). The ceremony was held at St. Patrick’s Church in Tully. It was a special location for Heather because numerous family members had wed in the exact same church over the past decades. They partook in a traditional Catholic service and blessing, followed by a receiving line with plenty of hugs from family and friends they hadn’t seen in a while.

The reception took place at The View Event Center at Sunset Pines. It’s a brand new space (the doors opened in 2020), so it was my first time inside, and it was absolutely stunning with floor-to-ceiling views of the golf course. It gave off the perfect rustic country wedding vibes. They graciously closed down the greens so we could go exploring and snap some golf course wedding photos of the Bride and Groom. We stumbled across a patch of wildflowers that immediately took me back to their engagement session in a field of grain. I created a GIF to go along with the one from their 2019 engagement session.

After photos, the happy couple was introduced into the venue and shared a sweet first dance, followed by one with Kyle and his mom. Heather and her dad choreographed a surprise dance for the guests, which had everyone cheering and cracking up.

Once speeches were done and dinner was wrapping up, it was time for the main event: the dancing! I knew from day 1 that this was what Heather was looking forward to the most (and it showed when you saw her on the dance floor in her custom wedding shoes!). Her joy and energy were contagious, even luring all the grandma’s out on the floor at one point to share a dance.

Heather and Kyle took a break to cut their cake (and smear it on each others’ faces), then guests enjoyed a plethora of yummy desserts from Cupcakers Bakery. When the day came to an end, the dance floor was so busy it was hard to clear. But guests slowly trickled outside to bid the newlyweds farewell with a bubble send-off. Heather and Kyle skipped out into the rain and off into the night.

It was truly the perfect rustic country wedding celebration of Heather and Kyle after such a long wait!
