Heather + Kyle’s Modern Wedding at Taughannock Falls
Heather and Kyle’s outdoor wedding at the Inn at Taughannock Falls was a picture-perfect day filled with sunshine, laughter, and modern wedding decor in black and white. From their outdoor wedding ceremony to their tented wedding reception, each part of the day was so special.
The Victorian Inn at Taughannock Falls made the perfect place for Heather and her bridesmaids to get ready. Their suite featured french doors that opened to a deck overlooking Cayuga Lake, which is the longest of Central New York’s glacial Finger Lakes. I loved utilizing this space, the doors, and the stunning view for some getting ready photos and portraits of Heather. Meanwhile, Kyle and his groomsmen were getting ready at Hillside, which is the private lake house on the property, just a short walk down from the Inn.
Heather and Kyle chose to do a first look. I scoured the grounds for the perfect spot and came across a simple stone path lined with a rock wall and hedge. It felt just secluded enough for this important moment. Heather looked beautiful walking toward Kyle, then at the very last minute, she smacked his butt, which resulted in a lot of laughs. But the laughter came to an abrupt halt when Kyle turned around and saw his gorgeous fiance.
We took a few minutes to snap some posed photos of them before moving into wedding party and family pictures. It always feels like a major accomplishment to get all the large group photos done before the ceremony even starts. That way, everyone can just rest and relax until the ceremony, and enjoy more of their cocktail hour afterward.
The outdoor wedding ceremony overlooked Cayuga Lake, which, along with the sky, made for an amazingly blue backdrop. It was the most picturesque late-July day! The happy couple said “I Do,” shared a ceremonial beer, and sealed their vows with a kiss. Let the party begin!
I know Heather and Kyle were overjoyed to spend their cocktail hour mingling with guests instead of taking all those photos we finished earlier. We made sure to snap a ton of candid pictures, documenting all the little moments unfolding throughout the group. The tented wedding reception was filled with modern wedding touches in black and white. Everything was so chic!
The wedding party really put on a show for the reception entrances, with Heather and Kyle topping it off with confetti poppers as they walked in. They went straight into their first dance, followed by parent dances that were so emotional even I had tears in my eyes. The Best Man and Maid of Honor gave some epically hilarious speeches, and I just knew these guests were about to have the best party!
