Dana + Ben’s Spring Engagement Photos at Sterling Bluffs

I threw out a handful of location ideas for Dana and Ben’s spring engagement photos, but the one that stuck out was Sterling Bluffs in Sterling NY. Dana had attended SUNY Oswego for college, and she fondly remembered frequenting the bluffs during her time there. We thought the location would make for some beautiful lake engagement photos, and Dana was excited to see how the area had changed from when she last visited.

We scheduled our session for the morning and the light was stunning! We started at the bottom of the bluffs near the water and were surprised at how high the tide was! We explored a bit until we found a good spot that gave us plenty of room to move around while I gave them prompts and directed them into different poses.

I had them walk along the shoreline of Lake Ontario so we could really take in the beauty of this spring morning. Once we had taken a bunch of photos near the water, we slowly made out way to the top of the bluffs, stopping a few times along the way for some more pictures.

Once we reached the top, Dana and Ben changed into cozier outfits. It was much needed since the wind made it feel cooler than down on the beach! I snapped some really sweet photos of the two of them sitting on the edge of the bluff and walking along a small path. But my favorites are the ones where they’re laughing together. I loved capturing those moments of them.

We ended our session with a few details shots of Dana’s gorgeous ring. I can’t wait for their winter wedding at Traditions at the Links!
